The Perfect Bath
The lights are dim, the candlelight adding just the right glow. Bubbles galore, the fragrant waters invite you to wash away the weariness of the day. While the bath oils and lotion work their magic you relax, thinking to yourself, “This is a great way to end my day.” Is this your idea of a perfect bath? Very rarely are all five of your senses pampered at the same time, and when they are there is a sense of total harmony and peace. A perfect bath is one such instance and is all about satisfying your five senses at once. If you are wondering how to go about running your perfect bath here are some ideas.
Sight: Use dim lights and candles to create a warm glow. Placing the candles securely is very important; you don’t want hot wax dripping on you while you enjoy your bath. Avoid scented candles as the fragrance may clash with the aroma of the bubble bath or the bathing lotion you use.
Smell: Choose from the wide range of bathing oils, bubble baths that are available. And don’t be stingy while using them, indulge yourself. You could also consider a foaming lotion that gives you long lasting bubbles with the richness of vitamin A, E and silk proteins to cleanse and moisturize your skin, leaving it feeling pampered and loved.
Sound: Put on some slow and soothing music that calms and soothes your mind and body. Keep the stereo away from the bathtub to avoid any chance of electrocution.
Taste: This is the one part we often forget when running a perfect bath. Pour yourself a refreshing drink or a cup of hot cocoa. Or perhaps it is a bowl of whipped cream clad strawberries that tempts you. Well, whatever your choice just indulge you taste buds; just ensure to place the glass or bowl at a stable area so that you don’t find your self bathing in the food or drink rather than tasting it.
Touch: This is one sense that is the most indulged as the warm water caresses and soothes every tired part of your body. Use a brush on your body to scrub away any dirt and grime leaving your skin cleansed and invigorated. Also have warm towels at hand to dry you. Do not use very hot water as it can be more draining than relaxing to the body.
Choosing the right bubble bath, bathing oils, etc, is perhaps the most important part of planning the perfect bath. It would be a good idea to use a foaming lotion that leaves no residue and cleans as well as nourishes the skin. We have all heard of Cleopatra’s famous beauty secret being her milk baths. Today science has shown that the lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxyl acid, a natural material that dissolves the glue that holds dead skin cells together. Milk cleanses the deepest layers of the skin. If you want to try her beauty formula just add two to four cups of milk or buttermilk to your bathtub water and soak in it for at least twenty minutes. Gently rub your skin with a brush or loofah to work out the dead and dry skin cells and then rinse well. If this isn’t your cup of tea or should we say cup of milk then opt for a natural milk bath formula that provides you with all the goodness of milk protein with bubbles and a fresh floral fragrance. To bring out the child in you indulge yourself with some silly soap that comes out in the form of mild fluffy foam that bounces, molds and floats. It cleans you as well as provides a lot of fun. Once you have soaked in the bath for a while you need to have your bath brush and loofah at hand. When choosing the later select one that has an intricate network of tissue like layers to buff your skin leaving it supple and rejuvenated.
When you are out of the bath, pat yourself dry and use a body lotion to moisturize the skin. Select one with a fragrance that you enjoy, check the ingredients for aloe vera that helps heal damaged skin and protects it. If you have a dry skin that gets itchy use an intensive hydrating lotion to nourish and protect the skin. A witch hazel lotion is a good choice for dryness caused by heat or cold. So for dryness caused by changes in season this is the product to use. There are also body mists that are available of the same fragrance as your bathing or foaming lotion. The non-oily and non-greasy nature of these products nourishes the skin but leave it dry to the touch. Finally use a hand and a foot cream or lotion to moisturize and soften the skin. Now your body is totally in harmony with itself and you are revitalized and ready to take on the world.
