Keep Arthritis, Obesity and Toxins away – The Nutritional way.
Arthritis is an affliction of the joints, a particularly painful one at that, accompanied by stiffness that hinders mobility, swelling and deformity of the joints. Arthritis is a progressively degenerative disease that is more prevalent amongst middle-aged people. It can also be a secondary manifestation of cancer or gout etc.
As is rightly said, “Prevention is better than cure”, timely changes in lifestyle can prevent this affliction from visiting your body.
A high fat diet should be eschewed as fat deposits in the arteries that supply blood to our body can lead to these parts getting less and less oxygenated blood over a period of time.
Thus, the diet should ideally be a low fat diet, which should include good portions of vegetables and grains as these contain carbohydrates and other nutrients that help ward off arthritis. It is safer to take recourse to natural supplements in order to avoid and fight these afflictions.
Vitamins like B, C, and E are useful in the repair of tissues. Minerals like zinc and boron are necessary for healthy bones and arthritis patients have shown a remarkable improvement in their condition on being treated with boron supplements. Boron is naturally found in nuts, leafy greens and fruits like apple. Whole wheat bread is a good source of zinc. Oils like Black Currant seed oil and Fish oil stimulate the production of natural anti-inflammatory substances in the body. Pineapples contain enzymes that are anti inflammatory in nature. Selenium, which is found in Oranges and nuts, is an effective antioxidant that restricts damage done by free radicals. A supplement that has all the elements necessary to combat arthritis should be incorporated in the daily diets of middle-aged people.
Obese people are more likely to get arthritis. A healthy lifestyle that includes some exercise and the right diet can keep arthritis at bay. Chitosan is a product made from the exoskeleton of crustaceans like shrimp and crabs and has been found successful in inhibiting the assimilation of fat by the body. Chitosan binds the fat present in the intestine, which is then excreted out of the system. It also plays a role in limiting the cholesterol in the body.
Environmental pollution and its effect on our body is something that we largely tend to ignore even though we are exposed to it everyday of our life. The reason for this is that there are no immediate results of chemical and environmental pollution visible to us, but the fact is that factors like vegetables sprayed with pesticides, vehicular pollution, contaminated water, preservatives used in junk food etc are all continuously weakening our immune system. Nutrients that would ideally be used for nourishing the body are used up in battling these pollutants, many of them which trigger allergies in people and some are even cancer causing.
Calcium and magnesium counter toxins that affect the colon, zinc is an important strengthener of the immune system and a tissue builder. B Complex vitamins help flush toxins out of the system. Diet should also include fiber that binds up waste matter and keeps the digestive tract healthy.
Given the multiplicity of elements needed to keep the body toxin free, it would be a good idea to take a supplement that caters specially to the need of keeping the body’s defense up against pollution.
