Cleaning Management
It is the most sacred part of your house that provides comfort, relief and the few moments of privacy that have become so rare and precious in our daily lives; Any guesses as to which part of the house we are talking about? Well, it is the bathroom. If you are surprised, then think again of how often you have made a mental list of things-to-do while you answered nature's calls, or let the day's weariness seep away in a hot bath or suddenly when you were brushing your teeth remembered all the things about your day that you had forgotten to tell your partner. The moments of solitude that you spend in the bathroom is often the only time you have to collect your thoughts or just plain relax. However, no one likes to use a dirty bathroom and unfortunately a bathroom doesn't clean itself. Cleaning the bathroom seems to be high on most of our 'chores most disliked' list, however with the cleaning products available today and a bit of cleaning management on your part, cleaning can be an easy and enjoyable task. Perhaps the word enjoyable seems odd when put in the same sentence as cleaning your bathroom, but at the end of it all you do have a sparkling clean bathroom to enjoy.
It is a good idea to stock up on the cleaning products you require and keep it on a shelf in the bathroom away from sight. If you have more than one bathroom it is a good idea to have different sets of cleaning necessities so that you don't have to keep moving them when you clean and also it is easier to keep a track of which product you are going to run out of soon. As far as possible use natural and biodegradable products. A basic list of things to have in the bathroom include the following:
· A pair of disposable gloves.
· A good bathroom scrub that has a rough scrubber side to remove the toughest grime and stain, and a soft sponge side to wipe away dirt and leave the spot shining.
· A double sided sponge cloth, with a rough and soft side to help you do away with stains from walls, sinks and fixtures.
· A heavy duty bathtub cleaning formula that dissloves soap scum and hard water stains.
· A bathtub swab, preferably with a handy hang up hook, that helps you get to every corner comfortably.
· A strong bowl cleaner with a pleasant fragrance.
· A bent tip bowl brush that provides easy access with minimum effort. The brush should have its own holder that will help it dry fast and keep it fresh.
· A good shower spray, to keep those shower surfaces clean. Ensure that it contains no harsh chemicals.
· An effective germicidal that also cleans away dirt and stains.
· A shower and grout brush to reach those high spots that are otherwise difficult to clean.
· A tile and grout cleaner for the floor.
Armed with your cleaning supplies you are ready to take on any challenges that your bathroom might throw at you. Now divide the chores that need to be done according to their frquency, so that you are not stuck with them all together. Like they say Divide and Conquer. You may want to schedule your cleaning like this:
Daily:
· Wipe the sink and faucets with your sponge cloth.
· Use another sponge cloth to wipe the toilet seat.
· Swipe the mirror when you are done using the bathroom in the morning.
· Rinse the tub after bathing or spray a shower spray to take care of the water stains and soap scum.
· Hang fresh hand towels.
· Use a bathroom freshener.
Weekly:
· Clean sink and faucets with a mild detergent, wash, and then wipe with a sponge cloth dipped in germicidal.
· Rinse and clean soap dish.
· Apply bowl cleaner for the time period mentioned and then scrub and flush. Clean toilet seat and the top of the flush with a strong germicidal and wipe clean.
· Use a bathtub cleaning formula, scrub with your swab and rinse clean.
· Dust under sink and check for cobwebs, use a mild detergent to clean fixtures, cabinets and walls around the sink.
· Use a tile and grout cleaner and a strong germicidal on alternative weeks to keep the floor clean. Use a good mop that will soak up all the water on the floor and leave it dry.
· Disinfect sponges and sponge cloth in fresh water and an appropriate germicidal.
· Leave bathroom unused for twenty minutes after cleaning to ensures that it dries up completely.
Monthly:
· Clean out your medicine cabinet.
· Take stock of toiletries such as toilet paper, soap, cleaning products, etc.
When you divide your tasks into a daily, weekly and monthly schedule as suggested you will never be stuck with a dirty bathroom or feel bogged down with the enormous task of cleaning it. Instead you will have a clean and pleasant haven to attend to your daily bathroom rituals and of course to work on your 'to-do' lists.
